Jessie & Sufyan | Featured Wedding
Way back in the summer of 2013, Jessie and Sufyan met through friends of friends. After six years of long distance, many hours in the car, and lots of gas money, Sufyan popped the question at their favorite overlook in West Virginia, a place they still visit now with their pup. On September 12, 2020, they finally tied the knot – as a Covid couple, with about 1/3 of the original guest list.
"Sometimes it was like trying to hit a moving target trying to plan a pandemic wedding," Jessie told us. "But at the end of the day all that mattered to us was that we were getting married."
With an interfaith Catholic and Muslim wedding, Jessie and Sufyan had two officiants - Deacon Larry and Imam Hendi. "We were so happy we could blend our two religions and cultures together," Jessie said. "We heard some amazing feedback from our guests about our officiants."
"They each read their vows to each other in Arabic, and when Jessie finished she was so excited that she nailed it that she did a big fist pump and it was so cute!" Their photographer, Samantha Jean Photography, shared. "Sufyan is also a jokester, and when Jessie walked down the aisle he did a little dramatic fake tear face, because his friends and fam gave him a lot of crap about crying."
Social distancing, masks and hand sanitizer were a huge theme as the couple wanted to provide a wedding that felt normal, but ultimately safe. Special touches included desserts baked from scratch from Jessie's Polish family and a traditional Circassian dance between the groom and his mom.
"We feel so blessed for our marriage and our family and friends," Jessie said. "Overall it was an extremely beautiful day."
